Detached Studio is the practice of Rob House — artist, illustrator, and maker.
Flat planes, cut and placed in space. Picture books, art objects, and spatial installations that reward the viewer who moves. Work rooted in what it feels like to be small in a world built for a different scale.
Fifteen years of commercial illustration experience across health, publishing, advertising and public sector work — now directing that foundation toward narrative placemaking, public art, and self-authored publishing.
Work that reveals more the closer you look.
When We Play Hide & Seek
Picture book, AR prints & handmade objects Personal work
Self-authored AR animation via Artivive Limited edition prints Project in development
A self-authored picture book world built around the tension between being seen and staying hidden. The project spans an illustrated book in development, a series of limited edition AR-animated prints where a botanical eye motif comes to life through your phone, and a range of handmade tray objects. One visual world expressed across three formats.
Work that reveals more the closer you look.
